More from enough 3,000 big and small caves, from them with impressive stalactites and stalagmites, present particular interest and decorate the mountains.
Rocky coasts and immense sandy beaches compose the coastal landscape. Stone rural houses, villages built in high plateaus, monasteries, castles and chapels there are in the country. Villages with intense the element of green, from olives, vineyards and citrus fruits, add colour of life in the sometimes wild landscape, in which the traditional Cretan rhythms of life have not changed in the passage of centuries: coffee under the shade of age old trees, traditional dances, spring and pentozali together with the sound the Cretan liras and gently Cretan wine.
Old cities wrapped from slip roads that hide in their passage churches and ruins of palaces.
Names as Knossos, Festus, Malia, Zakros, Aptera, Latw, and Arkadi played one important role in the history of island from the Neolithic as modern season. Many nations as Roman, Arabian, Venetian, Turks and Germans have entered and have occupied Crete at the duration his history. All more they compose the multidimensional picture of Crete, in the ground of which bloomed one from the more important cultures minoikos and was the place of birth of so much important artists and writers as the EL Greco, the Damaskinos, the Kazantzakis and a lot of other.
